Chhab Talav
Chhab Talab (also known as Chab Talab) is a historic lake located in the central part of Dahod, Gujarat. It is believed to have been built during the medieval period and was likely used as a water source by royal armies, including those of King Siddhraj Jaisingh, on their way to Malwa. Over time, the lake fell into neglect, but it has recently been revitalized under the Smart City Mission.
In September 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the lake’s redevelopment. Today, the lake has taken on a modern form, which includes:
-
A 2.5 km long promenade
-
Cycling and walking tracks
-
Beautifully landscaped gardens
-
A boating area
-
An amphitheater
-
Solar-powered infrastructure
-
And several other modern amenities
Today, Chhab Talab has become a popular destination for locals and tourists, offering a pleasant environment for evening walks, recreation, and family outings. It has also been recognized as an important part of Dahod city’s cultural heritage.
The lake now stands as a major tourist attraction and a prominent identity of Dahod city.
